Dressing for spring

It's the beginning of March, and in the Northern hemisphere, spring is about to hit! Personally, I can't wait to stash my knits, scarves and gloves away and bust out the florals, so I decided to make a  post about dressing for the season, stylewise as well as weatherwise!
I picked dresses for this post because they're the prettiest option and the easiest to find, but of course you can follow these suggestions in a less drastic manner, by adding accessories instead.

Dressing for spring stylewise

Spring = florals!
It was in The Devil Wears Prada and it isn't wrong: florals are EVERYWHERE in spring and I love it. Flowers are possibly my favourite kind of print in lolita, and what better time to wear them than the time of the year when the real ones pop up everywhere around you? It's like wearing the cutest camo ever!

Egg prints
The rarer variety of print, but they do exist! While eggs might not be the most versatile print to own, there's no more delightful easter outfit imaginable than a colourful egg print!

Animals
Spring is not in the least the season in which a lot of baby animals get born. Celebrate by wearing them on your clothes! You could go for some very easter-appropriate bunnies, some foresty deer, or completely different animals. I don't think any cute critter would look out of place!

Cool pastels
Cool, light colours feel very spring-like to me. Maybe it's the flowers and fresh greenery that pops up, maybe it's the sky that finally clears up after a frosty winter, but something about spring makes me want to dress in lavenders, sax blues and cool pinks. If you're into gothic lolita and don't feel comfortable in all pastels, try a grey, cream or white instead, or, like here, something with an overlay to dull down the brightness.

Chiffon
With the weather getting warmer, there no longer is a need to wear heavy wools or layer upon layer of cotton to stay toasty. It's the perfect time to bust out the light, swishy fabrics!

Dressing for spring weatherwise

Light coats
Preferrably a light coat in a fresh-looking pastel, to really convey that spring flower-vibe! Lucky pack coats tend to be perfect for spring weather: they're thick enough to keep out the chill but thin enough not to overheat you in the spring sun.

A parasol/umbrella
It doesn't just look cute, it's a handy weapon against those sudden spring drizzles that are bound to pop up in the new season, or against an unexpectedly bright sun.

Lace tights and over the knee-socks
Not just princessy and a great match for your florals, but also a great way to stay a little warmer when the sun still needs some time to get started.

Delicate knits
For the chillier days! A cute but delicate knit top or bolero is ideal for looking cute and staying warm without looking overstuffed and wintery. Personally I love BTSSB's knit boleros with open weave, the ones with little hearts or butterflies in them.

Lacy or antique gloves
To fit with the whole princessy vibe as well as to keep your fingers warm, a pair of cute gloves would be a great thing to have. Knit gloves are very chunky and can be too warm for spring, so a more delicate, lighter option is ideal.

I adore spring, it's possibly my favourite season. I love watching the flowers pop up and catching glimpses of baby rabbits and enjoying the weather getting warmer ever so slowly. While I don't dress like in this post every day in spring, I do find myself gravitating towards these styles! Is there a specific way you like to dress in spring or do you have one way of dressing you have for the whole year?
