Dressing for autumn

Although autumn is already here I haven't had the inspiration to write this post, simply because it's still so warm! I'm still harvesting tomatoes at Halloween, it's crazy. However considering Christmas is less than two months away I figured I should get writing anyway, before I end up posting the winter one before this one!

Dressing for autumn stylewise

Tartans

Tartans and autumn fit together like autumn and apple pie. Or autumn and pumpkin spice, if you will. You can wear them all sorts of ways too, from Angelic Pretty's pastel tartans with glittery threads to bold reds in oldschool Baby to MoitiƩ's (yes, they've done tartan!) very subdued wool. Plus they come in all colours of the rainbow, so even if lolita pieces don't usually come in your favourite colour you won't have a hard time finding a tartan one!

Creams and greys

Out with black and white, in with grey and creams! This palette looks wonderful with the dulling sun and it makes for a nice match with tartan. You can go all out with a grey or creamy dress, or you can use a blouse to add some visual warmth and interest to your already existing coords.

Capes

For when you want some warmth and cuteness but not necessarily a whole coat. Of course you can wear capes in any season but I feel they look their best in autumn, especially fluffy ones. You can go short capelet, long cape or even full sized mantle.

 Jewel tones and dusty pastels

As the weather cool down and dulls, so does your wardrobe! Jeweltones are very wintery even if the snow isn't quite there yet, and if you prefer pastels you can choose some dustier ones to fit better with the seasons.

Full sized hats

Look cute and refined while also keeping your head toasty! You can go for a simple classy model, or pick one with a wide brim to pile flowers and bows onto.

Dressing for autumn weatherwise

Cardigans

A cute extra layer that looks a tad more dapper than the knits I mentioned in my spring post. You can go for a cozy cute look or for something otome-like by pairing a contrasting cardigan with your coord. Especially cute with tartans!

Short smart coats/jackets

Can you tell I like scholarly looks in autumn? Probably because schools start again and because the layers mesh well with the cooling weather. A jacket makes for a wonderful top layer to keep your distinguished vibe, and it isn't too warm like a full long coat.

After spring, autumn is my favourite season! It's got all the winter goodies like hot chocolate and wood fires without freezing winds and the risk of slipping on ice. I wear clothes like the ones in this post a lot in autumn! After a summer of sweating our of my cutsews I usually can't wait for it to get cold enough for capes and long blouses and cute closed shoes. How about you?
