I consider myself an oldschool lolita. Even outside oldschool, the dresses I tend to favor are simpler pieces with simple prints or no print at all. That being said, I do have a deep love for one sugary sweet print: Whimsical Vanilla-chan! Back when I was still trying to figure out what style I was most into I happened to stumble upon someone selling the round jumperskirt set. Being the crazy cat person I am, I bought it and fell in love with it! In the roughly four years since I've gotten quite a collection of Vanilla-chan pieces, and in this post I'd like to share them with you! My whole collection! I had issues getting it all nicely on one photo, so please excuse me for the wonky picture! So the next topic in the 52 lolita posts challenge is what my own lolita lifestyle is like. Before I start on that though, I'd like to touch on lolita lifestyle as a whole, or the lack thereof. Lolita doesn't have a strict lifestyle like many other alternative subcultures. Ask a goth what the gothic lifestyle is like and they'll probably tell you something along the lines of "listen to gothic music, visit goth clubs, wear a gothic style and have a spookily decorated house". As a lolita what the lolita lifestyle is like, and you might get answers ranging from "there is none" to "living in a cottage in the woods and baking cookies in your Angelic Pretty finest". There is no defined lifestyle, made more difficult by the vast differences between sweet, classic, gothic and the many little substyles of lolita. Because of this, I'll be looking only at things in my life that I think fit with a lolita lifestyle. Maybe you'll agree with me or...

  I love oldschool. You only need one look at this blog to see that! It takes up a good half of my lolita wardrobe, while four other substyles get smooshed in the other half. They're my most precious pieces, looking at a nice oldschool dress or blouse gives me a kind of fuzzies hardly any border print can hope to archieve. But why? The lace Oh the lace. Don't get me wrong, I think the modern tulle lace is absolutely beautiful. Thick cotton lace, though, is my absolute favourite kind. I love the sturdy feel of it, I love the clear details, and I love how it pops against a dress in a way tulle lace doesn't because of how thin the base is. The ease Oldschool is possibly the easiest substyle to get into and to wear daily! Building up a wardrobe is easy because there's no need for a bazillion matching pieces or careful planning on what theme or colourscheme your wardrobe will have. It's the beginning of March, and in the Northern hemisphere, spring is about to hit! Personally, I can't wait to stash my knits, scarves and gloves away and bust out the florals, so I decided to make a  post about dressing for the season, stylewise as well as weatherwise! I picked dresses for this post because they're the prettiest option and the easiest to find, but of course you can follow these suggestions in a less drastic manner, by adding accessories instead.  Dressing for spring stylewise Spring = florals!  It was in The Devil Wears Prada and it isn't wrong: florals are EVERYWHERE in spring and I love it. Flowers are possibly my favourite kind of print in lolita, and what better time to wear them than the time of the year when the real ones pop up everywhere around you? Here it is, the first post in the 52 lolita posts challenge! The topic is 5 things every lolita should have regardless of style, but I ended up with six. Not a problem, I think! 1. A white peter pan-collared blouse This is just such a staple! There's something undeniably lolita about a peter pan-collar IMO, and white is a super versatile colour as it goes with just about any other colour you can come up with. Especially in oldschool I consider a nice peter pan blouse to be a total must-have. Of course in gothic lolita you might be better off with a black one, but a white one is still very usable for when you want to lighten up a coord a little, or for days when you feel like wearing something that's undeniably lolita rather than goth. 2. Total false advertising, I've never listened to Mois Dix Mois! Sooo...the original theme for this post was "5 movies for lolitas". However I'm not much of a movie person at all! The ones I do like tend to be action movies or guilty pleasure movies that are so bad they're good, so not a lot of material to make a "movies for lolitas"-post with. So, I decided to switch from movies to music, it's close enough, right?? Because I did actually try to make a post about movies, I do have one recommendation, namely Murder on the Orient Express . It came out last year and a friend and I went to see it in cinema, and I liked the vintage feel of it a lot. It's by no means some kind of masterpiece but it's very enjoyable for a movie night! Apparently some people are irked that it doesn't do justice to the original book, but admittedly I didn't know it was a book adaptation when I went to see it so I can't give my opinion on that. For my first food-related post, a recipe for an English 'pudding' (a steamed cake rather than a custard!) that I made a couple days ago. I'll be adding my own alterations in as sidenotes.
